Background
Daniel P. O'Toole is a Managing Partner at Block O'Toole & Murphy, the Manhattan-based personal injury firm he co-founded. With more than 30 years of experience, he is a highly regarded trial lawyer whose practice focuses on construction accidents, catastrophic personal injury, and wrongful death litigation throughout New York. Over the course of his career, Daniel has been involved in resolving nearly $850 million in verdicts and settlements on behalf of injured clients and their families. He has been a longtime advocate for worker safety, serving as Co-chair of the Labor Law Committee and Task Force at the New York State Trial Lawyers Association. In 2016 he received the Corporate Social Responsibility Award from City & State New York in the category of Labor, Law & Lobbying for his advocacy work. Daniel earned his Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law in 1992 and holds both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts from the University of Scranton, earned in 1989. He has been recognized by Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers, American Trial Lawyers, the Irish Legal 100, and the Brehon Law Society. In 2026, Best Lawyers named him Lawyer of the Year in Personal Injury - Plaintiffs for the New York Metro Area. Daniel is also active in philanthropy, supporting St. Jude Children's Hospital, Candlelighters of New York City, and the Institute of Educational Achievement.
