Background
Laura Gómez Duarte is a trial attorney at Armstrong Lee & Baker LLP committed to helping clients rebuild their lives after serious injuries. The daughter of immigrants and a native Spanish speaker, she brings a personal understanding of the challenges facing diverse communities in the legal system. Gómez Duarte earned her J.D. cum laude from the University of Houston Law Center, where she served as Senior Articles Editor for the Houston Law Review, was inducted into the Order of the Barristers, and was named "Best Advocate" in the TEX-ABOTA Showdown Trial Advocacy Competition. She holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Texas at Austin in International Relations and Latin American Studies. Before joining Armstrong Lee & Baker, Gómez Duarte practiced at Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP, where she represented corporations and insurance companies. She also gained judicial experience interning for Hon. Vanessa Gilmore and Hon. Alfred H. Bennett at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, and clerking for Hon. Christine Weems at the 281st Judicial District Court in Harris County. She is licensed in Texas, California, and multiple federal courts.
